This author has the defense industry knocked. Frustrating, driven by agendas…and the main character is dealing with every frustration you can imagine. Then, he ends up with a body in the trunk…actually, he’s not the only one but the other one is a live lawyer (the worst kind) riding in the trunk of a Cadillac driven by two hit men. It’s pretty funny. The hit men want something Havelock has and he wants to keep it as he sees a way out of his trouble. I guess what I like is that here’s a mystery with plenty of action from car chases to foot chases through a dark defense plant. He uses his wits. Love the ending. Totally unexpected.Product details

Wry humor, fast pacing, interesting look at the defense industry (not something I knew much about) and a great ending. What more can you say? Try it, you will be glad you did!
Naturally it’s a dark and stormy night. A shot rings out and you have your body on the first page. But Havelock is this ordinary guy whose life is going to hell. The bodies start piling up when he doesn’t dare go to the cops. As sad as it was, I laughed all the way through the lawyer parts and how Havelock manages to outsmart everybody who's on his trail. I love this guy.
The first book in the Havelock series has a wonderful sense of humor and an action-packed, suspenseful story. The characters and their situations are crazy and every time you think it can't get crazier, it does. Don't bother trying to figure out what happens next because you'll be wrong. It reminded me a little bit of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series with that kind of humor in the characters and their situations. I'm looking forward to getting to the next book in the series!
I liked the intensity of the plot. I disliked the large number of characters, too many people to follow, makes for a confusing story.
I gave Havelock's Inheritance 5 stars because the author took several situations that are distressing and not completely uncommon and left me feeling for the characters and cheering them on. The story was light hearted considering the topics and I found myself cheering them on. The humor was great and kept me laughing into the night. Can't wait to read the next one, Havelock's corpse.
Havelock is an ordinary guy with a quick wit. He's under appreciated and overworked. His company knows they have him over a barrel so they make him do something illegal but super profitable. It's funny and entertaining as havelock finds his ex may be a serial killer, and suddenly his personal and professional life are intertwined. You won't want to put it down
This story crosses genres and introduces a civilian who doesn’t dare go to the police and therefore must play detective on his own. I had no idea how enjoyable it would be to ditch the typical detective or cop for a real guy. It’s every bit as engrossing as he really has his life on the line where a detective has a gun and backup to call on. For all the seriousness of the story line it had me laughing at what happened.
